God's Plan of Redeeming Love

GOD’S PLAN OF REDEEMING LOVE

God’s plan of redemption was quickly announced in Genesis 3:15.1 The serpent, the devil, was cast out of heaven and stripped of all his spiritual authority. He would bruise the heel of the seed of the woman, whom we know today from the Scriptures is Jesus Christ, and He would bruise Satan’s head. The Scriptures record what God has done to bring the redemption of man within His reach through the astonishing, wonderful sacrifice of the blood of Jesus Christ.

Has Satan stopped attempting to undermine God’s plan for restoring personal intimacy with those who have freely received the salvation of the Lord Jesus Christ? Of course not. The Apostle Paul later declared in Ephesians chapter six:

Ephesians 6:11-13: “Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Satan is at war with the saints, God’s children. Every believer is thus embroiled in a war,

1Genesis 3:14-15: “And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life: And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

not of their choosing and perhaps completely unknown to them at the time they signed up to be on Jesus’ team when they confessed Him as their Savoir. Yet they are in a war nevertheless. What is surprising, however, is the number of Christians who choose not to fight, or even recognize their necessity, mandate, privilege, and spiritual responsibility before the Lord to fight as a soldier.2

THE SPIRIT OF ADOPTION: TARGET OF THE CURSE

The heart of our heavenly Father has always longed for fellowship with His people. The devil’s intent is to destroy and hurt our Father’s heart. By deceiving Eve and bringing about the fall of man, Satan attempted to frustrate what God created, and deny Him the joy and intimacy of fellowship with man which is so dear to His heart. Thankfully, God initiated a plan to fully and completely deal with the problem. That plan was and remains our Lord Jesus Christ.

ASSAULT ON THE BLOOD

Ever since Genesis 3:15, God’s delivering plan has been Jesus Christ. As literally the subject of Scripture from Genesis 3:15 to Revelation 22:21, Jesus Christ is the red thread that runs through all of history. It is His atoning blood that became the ultimate sacrifice to redeem man completely.3 Since Leviticus tells us that the life God gave us is in the blood,4 the life blood of Jesus Christ is appropriately the final payment for the debt that was first initiated by the devil.

2 Timothy 2: 3-4: “Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.”

Gen 3: 14-15: “And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life: And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.”

Lev 17:11: “For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.”
